Administrative Asst./Bookkeeping Asst. for The African
American Lectionary Project
Position
Description:
This is a 35 hour a week administrative/bookkeeping
position for The African American Lectionary Project. (TAAL).
TAAL Project is an online resource for churches,
schools, Bible teachers, and others. The web address is
www.TheAfricanAmericanLectionary.org.
This position does not provide benefits. The starting
pay is $35,500 for the first year and $40,000 for year
two and salary increases thereafter. The successful
applicant will perform their duties out of office;
travel may be required twice each year at the
project’s expense. A two year commitment (at minimum)
is needed.
Minimum
Qualifications
– The successful applicant will hold a Bachelor’s
degree, have worked in a senior administrative capacity
for at least four years, possess good bookkeeping
skills, be a strong writer, able to work well
without supervision, and be able to operate all basic
Microsoft Office programs and at least one basic
bookkeeping program such as Quick Books. A writing test
and a bookkeeping test may be administered.

The
Pitts Theology Library
announces an opening for a Reference and Systems
Librarian to begin on or before June 1, 2011. One of
Emory University's six instructional libraries, Pitts
supports the programs of the Candler School of Theology
and the university's doctoral programs in religion. Its
collections include over 550,000 volumes, and its staff
of 15 supports vigorous programs in archives, special
collections, and digital imaging. Planning for a new
library facility is underway. Further information about

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS or
doctoral study in theology; excellent oral and written
communication skills; commitment to public service and
to theological education; experience with library
systems and electronic resources; strong organizational
skills; demonstrated creativity and/or initiative in
performing duties; and ability to work collaboratively
with other staff on inter-departmental projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Specialized knowledge
in theological or religious studies; familiarity with
United Methodist publications, polity, and history;
technical proficiency and interest in new technologies
for teaching, learning, and content provision; teaching
proficiency and experience; involvement in library,
scholarly, and/or pastoral associations (e.g., ATLA,
ALA, SBL); graduate degree in theology; and foreign
language expertise.
