2017 State of The ITC
On October 26, 2017, in the lobby of the James H. Costen Lifelong Education Center, the ITC Community gathered to experience the New ITC first hand. Members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, students, staff members, alumni, donors and the AUC Community were invited to participate.
The evening culminated in words from President Wheeler who shared the new vision for ITC, as the “work in progress” continues. In addition to sharing recent results, Dr. Wheeler reminded the audience why ITC remains relevant today. “We are finding new ways to emphasize ITC’s liberating interpretation of the Gospel message. That message is important now in the polarized political climate we find in our nation,” stated Wheeler.
Prior to words from the President, attendees shared in a pre event reception, followed by a moving presentation by Dr. Willie Goodman and Dr. Lisa Allen-McLaurin that left some emotionally moved. Trustee Board Chairman Jack Sibley’s stirring introduction of the President was equally matched by inspiring messages from faculty members Dr. Itihara Toure and Dr. Mark Ellingsen. The evening closed with a reflections from Rev. Tashara Void, Turner Theological Seminary, Class of 2019, who was the embodiment of students being trained as leaders that depart ready to positively impact the world.
